Martial arts for self defense
Due to evolutionary and genetic factors, most women are physically weaker and smaller then men, make them more vulnerable to attacks. Though awareness of the situation, avoiding potentially potentially dangerous situations, and running away from an attacker are the best methods to remain safe, learning martial arts can be very useful for self defense for women.
If the attacker is armed with a gun, knife or other weapon, even the best trained martial artist may not be able to escape. However, since many martial arts also emphasize on the mind and remaining mentally alert can help.
While all martial arts are useful for self defense to some extent, your ability to use the techniques taught for defending yourself effectively depends to a large extent to how it has been taught to you. Some martial arts are taught as sports, and player who play any sports are trained to follow rules. While they help you improve your level of fitness, they are not of much use in an unpleasant situation, where there are no rules and one wrong move could result in injuries or even death.
